I'm a self-taught amateur photographer living just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, California.  I've retired from a full-time day job, but for many years I was the managing partner of a leading consulting firm in Silicon Valley. My fun job is to look at the world through a lens and see the play of light, color, texture, and form. My favorite subjects are the world I encounter in my travels and just about anything that strikes my eye. The cool thing about photography is that it forces me to slow down and try to really see and interpret what's around me. Beyond learning the physics and optics of photography, there's a world of technology to learn and master. Photographic composition is only the beginning. I understand why being a professional photographer is so hard.

My hat's off to them all.
